The web has rapidly matured in recent years. Although web design can be learned to some level at home, to achieve professional status and understand advanced concepts as standards compliance, human-computer interaction and emergent technologies, a course is invaluable.

The Web Design + Development diploma is an intensive and complete qualification in creative design for the internet and technologies that are used for complex websites.

Aims

This course will enable students to achieve an advanced understanding of the principles and practice of professional web design and development.

Ultimately, our aim is to see graduates prepared for the workplace or progress to degree level. Portfolio, style and technical development are core aims in the course.

Content and Structure

The course is progressive, starting with basic media theory, through web design practices, to advanced web development including emergent technologies such as mobile phones. Using the tools and tricks of the industry students apply these concepts to the production process.

Individual practical time and experimentation are essential components of the course. When lectures are not running, students have access to tutors to answer questions, solve problems or to give advice.

The combination of active experimentation, creative development, selective curricula and qualitative teaching methods give students the knowledge and skills required by a successful web designer or developer working in this fast-changing industry.
