Audio engineering Diploma Programme
This course offers students an opportunity to study all aspects of sound engineering and is designed to train future professionals for the audio industry from the ground up. Practical classes and hands-on studio time are supported by theoretical tuition, giving students a thorough knowledge of a broad range of audio production-related issues. Successful completion of the Diploma level gives graduates the possibility to continue their studies towards a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Recording Arts Degree.

Course concept
Today's and tomorrow's audio production for Music, TV, Film, Multimedia, Broadcast and Live events require a broad knowledge of audio technology and a wide variety of skills in recording, editing, mixing and post production of audio. Studio setups found in the industry range from small home studios to large format consoles in huge recording studios. This course provides the required diversity and professionalism in equipment, skills and theory topics. Students acquire essential experience using industry standard equipment in order to be well prepared for work in the industry or individual ventures.


Aims
Graduates of the SAE Audio Engineering Diploma are able to operate a wide range of professional, industry standard equipment, large format consoles, hard disk recording and editing systems, sequencing software, digital control surfaces, several types of analogue and digital mixing desks, as well as studio standard effects processors and microphones. Graduates who have gained this qualification will have recorded and mixed several music productions, completed a comprehensive post production project, programmed MIDI arrangements and worked extensively with ProTools.


Diploma Level study
Diploma courses combine highly practical training with in-depth theory study and culminate in an SAE Diploma qualification. These courses are designed to enable graduates to start working in their chosen industry upon successful completion. The SAE Diploma is equivalent to having completed 50% of the Middlesex University Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree. Diploma studies range from 12 to 21 months.
