Module 101:
Aim:
- To familiarise students with video editing, graphic design, web design, animation, audio editing and basic 3D systems
- To train students in the use of Final Cut Pro and introduce the key concepts of Non-linear video editing
- To develop students knowledge of framing and traditional editing theory
Practical Assignment:
Self-reflective analysis
A 3-Minute silent film set to music introducing a part of a student’s life of aspect of their personality.
Module 102:
Aim:
- To introduce students to the fundamentals of documentary filmmaking
- To develop students skills in graphics animation, sound recording and mixing
- To train students in project planning and production/location management
Film Theory Taught:
- Documentary Theory
- Animation Theory
- Sound Theory
- Project Management
- Film Production
Practical Assignment:
Documentary
Produce a documentary film focusing on a subject of your choosing of a minimum duration of 15 minutes.
Module 103:
Aim:
- To develop an understanding of lighting techniques
- To develop students skills in 3D modelling and animation for post production and DVD Authoring
- To introduce Avid editing systems
Film Theory Taught:
- Lighting Theory
- Scripting Basics
- Pitching and Budgeting Film
Practical Assignment:
Music Video or Television Advert
Produce either a music video or television commercial, with a strict duration limit, representing an artist or product of the students’ choice.
Module 104:
Aim:
- To introduce complex visual effects and post-production techniques
- To provide students with the ability to produce blue or green screen film and composite background footage
- To outline the key legal aspects of film making,such as copyright law and cast and crew contracts
Film Theory Taught:
- Visual Effects & Compositing Theory
- Blue & Green screen
- Miniature photography
Practical Assignment:
Short Film
Produce a fictional film of no less than 7 minutes duration and present it as part of a demo-reel DVD.
