The 3D Animation Major is a specialisation within the Interactive Entertainment Diploma programme which takes students from fundamental to advanced 3D techniques. This programme is currently available at SAE London.

Aims
Students will be instructed in the main areas of 3D computer development, namely:
- Concept development
- Modelling
- Rigging / adding bones to character models
- Animation
- Materials and texturing
- Lighting
- Rendering (image / movie output)
- Editing and compositing
- Portfolio publishing to web and DVD
In learning these concepts, students can create complex computer generated graphics and animations.
The duration of the course allows enough time for students to develop their personal style and put together both an on-line (web) and off-line (DVD) portfolio of their work.
Content and Structure
The course content and structure encourage students to learn the theoretical background to the topics covered and creatively apply this to the production process.
Individual practical time and experimentation are essential components of the course. As well as coming to scheduled lectures, students need to work on their module projects. A tutor is available during the day and can be used in quiet times for one-to-one tuition and at busy times for questions.
