SAE will be the lead sponsor for the launch of the Conch Sound Awards which will be held the 21st of September in London, UK. The Conch Awards will reflect the contribution made by UK facilities, sound editors and dubbing mixers to the art of audio post production in film, TV and commercials.

The Conch Awards, organized and promoted by industry trade organisation UK Post, is the first of its kind to bring the British audio industry together to recognize and celebrate its achievements in film and television with support from world-class audio facilities. Peter Joly of Goldcrest stated about the awards, ““At last an opportunity to recognise our own home grown talent - many of the finest and most creative sound designers, editors, and mixers working anywhere in the industry."

The audio industry will make nominations for the awards given which will include awards for Sound Editor / Sound Designer of the Year, Best UK Sound Facility and Most Promising Newcomer.
A panel of leading industry experts will judge all submissions and the first ever Conch winners will be announced at the ceremony. “The UK has a large pool of exceptional audio talent across many markets and The Conch has been designed to look at all this work and its creators and celebrate them in an informal evening with their industry peers.” comments Gaynor Davenport, CEO, UK Post.

The Most Promising Newcomer award is sponsored by SAE sister company AMS Neve. For three years running, Neve DFC consoles have been used to mix over 70% of international blockbuster movies. This position has been maintained by continuous innovation and improvement, a company philosophy reflected in their desire to nurture and recognise new UK film mixing talent.

SAE is the lead sponsor of the Conch Awards which will also be sponsored by industry leaders such as AMS Neve, Dolby and Euphonix and media sponsors Audio Media and Broadcast. “As the leader in audio education, SAE is proud to sponsor the first ever Conch Awards and acknowledges the importance of recognizing the talents of the UK audio industry,” states Tom Misner, CEO of SAE Institute.

The first ever Conch Awards will be held the 21st of September in London at the Radisson Edwardian Mayfair hotel in its newly refurbished cinema. For additional information regarding the Conch Awards visit www.ukpost.org.uk/conch. For additional information about SAE visit www.sae.edu.
